Brian Hamel* - Financial Advisor and Former Owner
Brian has served many roles with the agency, from former owner to his current role as Financial Advisor, always providing his clients with valued financial services since 2005. He is a Series 65 Investment Advisor Representative, Series 7 Registered Securities Representative, and a licensed Life and Health Insurance producer. Prior to Brian’s tenure with Thompson Financial Group, he began his career by earning his Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license while working for one of the world’s largest international accounting firms in Boston, followed by years of corporate finance positions for a manufacturing conglomerate at its corporate headquarters in Portsmouth, NH, and concluding with 13 years of military base closure redevelopment experience in New Hampshire and Maine most recently as the President and CEO of the Loring Development Authority in Limestone, Maine from its inception in 1994 through 2005. Brian currently serves on the Board of Directors of Bangor-based Versant Power and also on the Board of Directors of the system wide Northern Light Health Foundation located in Bangor.
Brian and his wife of 42 years, Gail, love being grandparents to their six grandchildren Bella, Annabelle, Owen, Crosby, Oliver and Emma, who fondly refer to them as Papi (that would be “Little Papi” and not the famed “Big Papi” from the Boston Red Sox) and GG (short for “Grammie Gail”). Although their grandchildren seem to get much of their current attention, they equally enjoy spending time with their three grown daughters Natalie, Abby, and Molly, and their husbands, especially when they all get together for their annual family camping trip at Hermit Island on Small Point, Maine. A little known fact about Brian is he has completed 11 marathons, including being a seven-time Boston Marathon qualifier.
Although Brian’s marathon days are over, he still enjoys exercising regularly and still has a competitive spirit. Brian gives back to his community regularly, but of most importance is his involvement with Special Olympics. From 2011 through 2019 Brian was the Volunteer Head Coach of the Special Olympics Aroostook County Snowdogs basketball team. In 2014, he was named the head basketball coach of the State of Maine’s Special Olympics team that competed in the USA National Games in Princeton, New Jersey. Just ask Brian about his Special Olympian athletes and you will quickly learn of his passion for making a difference in their lives. Being a Massachusetts native, Brian is an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan. Brian can be reached at bhamel@growwithtfg.com
